Fuel crisis

at French stations

At many petrol stations there are queues of kilometres long cars

Around 20% of French petrol stations have been facing fuel shortages for several days. On Saturday, supply problems affected more than a fifth of petrol stations across the country. The biggest problems are expected to occur in the Ile-de-France (near Paris) and Hauts-de-France (near the Belgian border) regions.

The problems are mainly due to strikes initiated by the French trade union CGT at the ExxonMobil and TotalEnergies refineries. The reason for the lack of fuel at the stations is also due to the recent high demand, as drivers want to take advantage of the fuel discounts offered by TotalEnergies.

Matex Transport Logistics, together with its fuel card partners, is developing a contingency plan for this situation in order to support our customers and not leave them without transport options to / through France.
